Photo Journal 2004

In 2004, I was in my mid twenties, working as a contributing photographer for some of the major surf magazines. At the time, 35mm slide film was my go-to medium, along with black and white and cross-processed film. The journal offers a unique perspective on surfing, focusing on more abstract views of surf breaks, quite different from the glossy action shots that dominated surf magazines back then. The page layouts reflect my early interest in design, collage, and hand drawn type. It was a personal project that marked the end of an era, as photography shifted from film to digital.
